Avon Motorcycle Tires Standard Limited Warranty
Every first quality tire bearing the Avon name and serial number, and not branded “NA”, or “DA” for BLEM [i] tires, and not used for racing, is warranted to be free of defects in workmanship and material during the life of the original tread design. Original tread life is completed when the tire is worn to 2 remaining 32nds (1.5mm).
Avon recommends tires should be used within 5 years of the manufacturing date on the tire. Tire should then be removed after a total of 7 years from the manufacturing date. Tires beyond this date will not be warranted.
This warranty does not in any way extend to any consequential damages or losses. There is no other warranty, or liability, expressed or implied, applicable to these products. No representative has the authority to make any representation, promise, or agreement except as stated herein.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
TIRES: RADIAL VERSUS BIAS
While running a bias ply front tire and a radial rear tire can be acceptable in certain applications, you should never run radial front and bias rear as this can create an instability issue. Avon is not responsible for abnormal wear due to suspension modifications and/or improper maintenance.
Tire Adjustment Policy
Any Avon tire that does not deliver satisfactory service due to a balance, out of round or a ride complaint problem will be replaced without charge within the first 2/32nds (1.5mm) of the tire’s tread life. After 2/32nds (1.5mm) of wear, tires with the aforementioned conditions are not warranted. No adjustments will be made in cases of abuse by user, such as, but not limited to:
- Road hazard
- Cut by vehicle
- Trued tires
- Nail holes, cuts, punctures
- Under or over inflation
- Run flat
- Wheel alignment
* Road Hazard Warranty
This warranty applies to all Avon tires, purchased in the USA or Canada. It is limited to one “no charge” replacement tire per purchase. The Road Hazard Warranty expressly excludes non-DOT race tires.
This warranty is valid up to the first 1mm (2/32”) of tread depth expended. The tread depth is measured on the center groove of the tire for the first 1mm (2/32”) of wear.
This warranty covers normal road use only. Incorrect inflation, off-road use, racing and deliberate or malicious damage will invalidate the warranty.
Applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
Does not cover rapid or uneven wear caused by motorcycle defects.
If the tire is removed or repaired by a non-approved company or individual the warranty will be declared invalid.
Damage incurred while fitting or removing the tire isn’t covered by the terms of the warranty.
This warranty program is effective for a period of one year from date of purchase.
Except for the express warranties set forth in this “Limited Warranty”, all other warranties, conditions, representations, promises, guarantees, covenants or collateral agreements, express or implied, statutory or otherwise, relating to the tire or any services provided in relation thereto are excluded to the extent permitted by law.
Some states do not allow exclusion of incidental or consequential damages so this limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you special rights and purchasers in the USA and Canada may also have other rights, which vary from state to state and or from province to province.
No employee, dealer, distributor or representative has authority to make any statement, commitment, promise or agreement binding upon Avon, except as stated herein.
Proper vehicle and tire care is necessary to obtain the expected wear from a tire. It is your obligation to properly maintain your tires and the vehicle upon which they are mounted, including (A) operating your tires at the inflation pressures recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and (B) keeping your tire/wheel assemblies in balance.
Mileage Warranty
Tread Wear Protection – US POLICY
Eligibility
This warranty applies to the original purchaser of a replacement Avon Cobra and Storm 3D X-M Motorcycle Ttres, is nontransferable and applies only if an Avon Motorcycle Tire has been purchased as a replacement for the eligible product. This warranty applies to those tires operated within the continental United States. Tires are covered for a maximum of 2 years from the date of purchase and must be operated in normal service on the same vehicle they were originally installed. Motorcycles pulling trailers, or with sidecars, used in racing, off-road, abused or subjected to a dyno are not covered. Additionally, tires must be the size, load index, and speed rating equivalent or greater than that specified by the motorcycle manufacturer and installed on an industry approved rim width.
What is Warranted
The Tires are only warranted against tread “wear out” if worn out prior to the indicated mileage:
- Avon Cobra – 15,000 miles / 24,000 kilometers
- Storm 3D X-M – 15,000 miles / 24,000 kilometers
This Tread Wear Protection Policy is prorated (there is no free replacement) based on mileage received, and is separate from the Standard Coverage & Extra Coverage Warranties. No manufacturer or dealer can guarantee you a certain number of miles from a given tire. Riding habits, riding conditions, tire and vehicle maintenance all play a part in the tread life of a tire and all differ with each purchaser. The Tread Wear Warranty is available provided the eligibility above is met and you are the original purchaser and the tires were installed by a retail motorcycle dealership.
OWNER OBLIGATIONS
Proper tire and vehicle care is necessary to obtain the expected wear from a tire. You are responsible maintaining proper tire inflation and load in accordance with motorcycle owner’s manual, tire information, placard and restrictions molded on the tire sidewalls. Check inflation pressure frequently and inspect for damage or irregular wear.
MODIFICATIONS
No dealer, distributor, or representative has authority to make any statement, commitment, promise or agreement binding upon Avon Tyres North America, except as stated herein, or except for any statement made binding upon Avon Tyres North America, by any applicable law.
