Motorcycle Cigarette Lighters & Mounts

Electric cigarette lighters became standard in all autos many decades ago, and today, you can enjoy its functionality while sitting in the saddle of your motorcycle as well. Since the popularity of smoking continues to decline year after year, today, cigarette lighters are mostly used for plugging in various electronic devices, gadgets, and accessories rather than lighting up cigarettes. By using a 12-volt cigarette lighter socket of your motorcycle, you can plug in helmet lights, electrically-heated riding gear and seat covers, portable navigation devices and other consumer electronics, auxiliary and emergency lights, charge your smartphone battery through a USB charger port, and so on.

First and foremost, to remain safe and operable in any weather condition, your motorcycle cigarette lighter must feature a waterproof construction to avoid short circuits causing damage to the electrical system of your machine. Second, such an accessory should have an attractive design to seamlessly fit the style of your bike. Some models come with durable chrome-plated housings and mounting brackets that will look good on the handlebars of any type of motorcycle. If you intend to use your motorcycle cigarette lighter to actually light up your cigarettes or cigars, its housing must be able to withstand high temperatures without becoming a fire hazard.

For those who do not need to use a 12-volt port for juicing up power-hungry accessories, we offer a range of dual-port 5-volt USB chargers designed for plugging in smartphones, GPS devices, MP3 players, map-reading lights, and so on. Such an accessory can fit snugly under your handlebars. It is completely waterproof and weather-resistant. When the charge is not in use, you can close the ports with a protective cup. The installation process does not require any drilling or soldering and can be done with the use of only basic hand tools. The mounting bracket securely holds the device in place.

If you plan on using small power tools or drink-heating accessories while on the road or when camping somewhere in the wilderness, you can opt for a multi-port solution. Such a charging station comes with one or several standard 12-volt cigarette lighter sockets while incorporating 5-volt USB ports in one housing. Such a device may come with polished aluminum, chrome, or matte black powder coating finish to satisfy the styling preferences of any rider. Larger versions of charging stations are designed to be securely fitted inside tank bags or saddlebags of a touring or adventure motorcycle.

These devices come equipped with long wires with inline fuses to be connected directly to the battery terminals. To install such a charging station into a standard nylon bag, you may have to use a soldering iron or simply a nail with pliers. After choosing the right position for the device in the bag, depending on the location of the battery, use a provided backing plate as a template to outline the main opening and four mounting holes. You can melt nylon fibers and prevent their fraying with a soldering iron or heated nail that you may hold with pliers. The connector can be secured on the bag wall with automotive weatherstrip sealant.
