Your cruiser motorcycle’s air intake system is fairly important to its overall performance. The bike’s engine is powered by a mixture of fuel and oxygen, which is compressed and ignited, enabling the motor to operate as it should. In order to control the mixture and maintain its proper ratio, there are special sensors, and a throttle position sensor (TPS) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor are most common in fuel-injected motorcycles. Their task is sending signals to the control module, so that the ECU could calculate the right quantity of fuel supplied at any moment.
Over time, any of these sensors can start malfunctioning and eventually fail, which results in erratic signals they give, or even the absence of signals. Naturally, when it happens, you can forget about the proper operation of the motor, good performance, stable idling, and the pleasure you're used to getting during the ride.
