Oxygen sensors, also called Lambda sensors, are designed to measure the concentration of O2 present in the exhaust gas. Its readings are used by the computer to adjust the air and fuel balance for efficient combustion and emission control. When the readings are correct, your bike’s motor runs fairly efficient and emissions are lowered. But when they are not, the result is not just an increase in pollution level. The air-fuel mixture can get rich or lean, causing performance-related issues such as rough running, sluggish acceleration, and even potential damage to some components.
The sensor produces an electrical charge that signals the amounts of leftover oxygen. A zirconia element heats up, and the voltage begins to vary in accordance with the volumes of O2 left in the piping, which exits into the external environment. Then the output voltage levels are compared to pre-existing levels. Using this data, the ECU balances the mixture of air and fuel. If you need to replace your cruiser bike exhaust oxygen sensors, look no further.
