Motorcycle Custom Headlights

Custom Headlights

At night or under poor visibility conditions, the risk of an accident is much higher than it is during the day. Factory headlights are often far from providing the finest light output, which is why it can be difficult to see the road and other motorists. However, the good news is that you can swap your factory headlights with custom motorcycle headlights that provide excellent performance. They are either custom designed for your specific model or universal to fit different applications. As long as it fits your bike, performs and looks the way you like, it is the right part for your iron horse.

Custom motorcycle headlights are not only about performance. They are also the perfect way to customize the look of your bike and add a touch of personality to your ride. A quality LED or halo projector headlight can dramatically enhance the overall appearance of your bike and make people turn heads when you drive by. Unlike many body parts, a motorcycle headlight is relatively easy to install which makes it an ideal starting point for your custom project. At the same time, a custom headlight can become that final touch you’ve been looking for to complete your upgrade.

Many people mistakenly think that custom motorcycle headlights consume much more power than their factory counterparts. In fact, most modern custom headlights are more energy-efficient compared to original equipment lights. The majority of custom lights come equipped with LED bulbs and use various energy-efficient technologies, which allows them to provide an improved light output without increasing power consumption. Custom headlights often last a lifetime, all thanks to the same energy-saving technologies that not only make the lights perform at their maximum, but also emit less heat, extending their service life.

Just like factory assemblies, custom headlights are available in different types, including halogen, HID, LED, and innovative laser lights. Halogen lights are the most common yet the most inefficient type of headlights. They emit yellowish light and consume about 55 watts of power that is mainly transformed into heat rather than light. Unlike halogen headlights, their HID counterparts consume less power, while providing two or three times brighter light. They also last longer compared to halogen lights. However, most motorcycle HID headlights are not purely HID since the majority of them use a xenon bulb for the low beam and a halogen bulb for the high beam.

LED headlights are the most efficient type of motorcycle lamps, which performance to energy consumption ratio can be beaten by laser lights only. However, the latter ones are considered to be the lights of the future, and are rarely found in mass production, while LED headlights have become a standard for custom lights. LEDs run much cooler than halogen and HID bulbs, which allows for using them in much more compact designs. Almost 100% of power they consume is converted into light, which is why virtually no heat is emitted. In addition, LEDs do not lose their brightness throughout their service life.
