    • HOW CAN I CLEAN MY DAINESE LEATHER ITEMS?
      • It is vital not to let dirt build up over time on items of leather clothing. Never use products containing solvents to clean them. Use the Dainese “Protection & Cleaning Kit” that you can find at any Dainese store. This kit contains two products: the first is for thoroughly cleaning the hide while the second nourishes it to keep it soft and pliable. If you don't have a kit, you can always use a sponge or a clean cloth and cold water with a little neutral soap as detergent. After cleaning the item, leave it to completely dry well away from any sources of heat (e.g. the sun, radiators, ...) and, if possible, on a flat surface or on a suitable hanger. The lining must be washed separately in water at 40°C max; Dainese recommends that you use a neutral soap and not a detergent powder which might be abrasive.
      DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR CLEANING DAINESE LEATHER GARMENTS?
      1. Do not rub down the garment with a brush or abrasive materials or creams.
      2. To remove both gnats and dust, simply wipe the area with a soft sponge soaked in neutral soap and water. It is best to promptly remove any organic spots left by insects (e.g. gnats, mosquitoes etc.., since the fluids they contain are quite aggressive on the leather.
      3. Any oil or grease should be washed immediately with a soft damp cloth, clean with gentle circular movements, avoiding to unduly rubbing the soiled area.
      4. Dry the garment away from heat sources and in a well-ventilated place, it is best to use a clothes hanger to prevent the garment from creasing or taking on shapes that are difficult to eliminate.
      5. When a garment is dried after it is accidentally wet, the leather may appear dry or stiff. To restore its initial characteristics use the Dainese Leather care KIT Protection and Cleaning Kit, which can be found at any Dainese dealer. The kit has two products: the first has an in-depth cleansing action on the leather, the second maintains it rich and soft, feeding the leather and keeping it hydrated. The Kit can be also be used for normal cleaning and care for the garment, always when dry. Remember to take great care with garments made of several different materials. In this case, always and only follow the instructions on the garment label.
      HOW DO I WASH FABRIC GARMENTS IN GORE-TEX® AND D-DRY®?
      • As with leather, it is important that you do not allow dirt to build up on fabric garments, which over time may seep between the weave of the fabric and become very hard to remove. Dainese garments in fabric or with waterproof and breathable membranes such as D-Dry® o GORE TEX® should be washed in luke warm water (max. 30°C) with softener free, neutral soap, instead of detergents containing solvents and abrasives, unless otherwise indicated on the garment's label. When washing make sure you treat the outer fabric very delicately, excess rubbing may damage the fibres. It is best to remove padding and protections, close zips and Velcro's (this avoids their abrasive effect on the fabric or the internal netting). What's more it is important to remember to dry the garment in a dry place away from direct light and heat. Remember to take great care with garments made of several different materials. In this case, always and only follow the instructions on the garment label: the indications must be strictly observed. All technical fabrics, including elasticized versions, must always be given a very delicate cleaning treatment. In particular high-tech fibres with mechanical properties must be treated with softener free, neutral detergents. Softeners can significantly weaken the waterproof and oil-proof surface treatments and even damage the resin coatings and multi-purpose membranes in Polyurethane and based on Polytetrafluoroethylene (i.e. PTFE – Teflon) usually applied on the backing of the fabric.
      HOW DO I WASH MY GLOVES?
      • Leather gloves are best not washed, avoiding dirt from building up over time and using the Dainese Cleaning & Protection Kit to keep them soft and clean. Fabric gloves, in GORE-TEX® and in D-Dry®, however if a more in-depth cleaning is needed, Dainese recommends to wash them delicately in luke warm water (max. 40°C) and non-abrasive, softener free neutral soap. Then dry them in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and heat, making sure you hang them by their cuffs, with the fingertips pointing downwards. All said, only unless otherwise indicated on the garment label. All technical fabrics, including elasticized versions, must always be given a very delicate cleaning treatment.       HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY BOOTS?
      • To clean your Dainese boots just follow a few simple rules:
      1. Do not rub the boots with a brush or abrasive materials and creams.
      2. To remove outside dirt, simply wipe it with a soft, damp cloth, gently rubbing the surface.
      3. Dry the boots away from direct heat and light, in a well-ventilated place.
      4. When the boots are dried after they are accidentally wet the leather may appear dry or stiff. To restore its initial characteristics use the Dainese Leather care KIT 'Protection and Cleaning Kit', which can be found at any Dainese dealer. The kit has two products: the first has an in-depth cleansing action on the leather, the second feeds the leather, maintaining it rich and soft. The Kit can also be used for normal cleaning and care for the boots, always when dry.
      HOW SHOULD I CLEAN A GARMENT IN MIXED FABRICS?
      • It is essential that you follow instructions on the garment label.
      HOW CAN I CLEAN A VINTAGE GARMENT?
      • It is essential that you follow instructions on the garment label. The Vintage products have been made with highly selected Italian leather. These articles are characterised by a pull-up effect finish based on oils and waxes, especially created to give the garment a worn appearance, but also an aggressive look that improves with age: this peculiarity gives the characteristic Vintage effect, perfect for the 'On the Road' style concept for this garment line. It is best to avoid dirt from building up over time. To remove dirt use the special cleaning and protection Kit provided for this product line (carefully follow the application method using a soft cloth and gently rubbing the surface with delicate circular movements, never concentrating overly on the mark) Dry away from direct light and heat.
      • IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESULT IT WOULD BE BEST TO CONTACT A SPECIALIST LEATHER CLEANER.
      HOW CAN I GET RID OF OIL AND GNAT MARKS?
      • These marks must be removed as soon as possible: the longer they remain the harder it is to remove them. To clean insect marks just wipe them away with a soft damp cloth and neutral soap. It is best to promptly remove any organic spots left by insects (e.g. gnats, mosquitoes etc.), since the fluids they contain are quite aggressive on the leather.     • IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS/ALTERATIONS ON STANDARD GARMENTS?
      • Company usually discourage making modifications to standard garments that risk compromising the safety and comfort characteristics that provide the fundamental requisite for all Dainese products. Furthermore, significant modifications to a garment cost as much if not more than the actual garment itself.
      CAN DAINESE LEATHER GARMENTS BE CUSTOMISED?
      • Yes, several models from the current collection can be customised in terms of design and/or comfort. As concerns aesthetics, you can choose colour combinations and wording.
    • CAN I HAVE MY D-AIR® RACING SYSTEM REPLACED?
      • Certainly! The D-air® Racing system can be replaced following deployment. Dainese offers everyone who buys the D-air® Racing system the option of signing a maintenance contract with authorised retailers. This package is for two years and includes the free replacement of the bag and gas generator every time the system has deployed and played its role in protecting the rider. Needless to say, this only applies for correct use of the system. Other benefits of the package include shipping costs, cleaning, discount on any repairs or replacement parts and disposal of the product when it is no longer used.
      CAN I USE D-AIR® RACING ON THE ROAD?
      • No, D-air® Racing was designed exclusively for use on the track. In reality, falls that occur on the track are very different from those which happen on the road.
      IS D-AIR® RACING HOMOLOGATED?
      • Yes. All the performance characteristics of D-air® Racing have been verified and certified by the TÜV SÜD automotive division, an organisation which has vast technological expertise in the protection and airbag technology system sector. D-air® Racing successfully passed the tests set by EN 1621.1, EN 1621.2 and EN 1621.4. The system also underwent an additional series of very severe tests aimed at verifying its reliability in hostile weather conditions such as extreme heat or in the presence of strong electromagnetic interference to name but a few.
      • Another very important test was the safety one which demonstrated that even if the D-air® Racing system deployed not following a fall, it did not interfere with the rider's ability to keep control of the bike.
      DOES THE D-AIR® RACING SYSTEM DEPLOY AT EVERY FALL?
      • D-air® Racing uses very sophisticated deployment technology that is much more intelligent than a simple piece of wire. Its sophisticated deployment algorithm lets it distinguish between different types of fall and decide whether or not and how to intervene. If the dynamics of a fall do not justify deployment, the system will not activate so as to avoid wasting money on testing and replacing.
      I'D LIKE TO CUSTOMISE MY D-AIR® RACING SUIT. HOW DO I DO THAT?
      • To order a D-air® Racing suit, contact your nearest authorised Dainese-D-air® Racing store. You can also avail of the made-to-measure service and/or colour changes and/or have wording or sponsors' names or logos added. For further information about costs and delivery times, contact your dealer.
      WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE DATA ACQUISITION SOFTWARE FROM?
      • The data acquisition software for the D-air® Racing suit can be downloaded from the official website.
      • This software can be download only online and allows viewing the telemetry and all the data relating to track performance.
      • Once the software is installed on the PC, the data can be downloaded from the suit using a USB cable. The complete software user’s manual can be downloaded from the same 2D website via the above-mentioned link.
      • This software is related only to the acquisition of data from the suit to the PC. The firmware managing the airbag activation has been installed directly in the suit and can be updated only by Dainese.
      CAN I UPDATE THE FIRMWARE THAT MANAGES THE AIRBAG ACTIVATION?
      • The firmware installed in the suit that manages the airbag activation is always sold with the latest available version and if the suit is returned to Dainese for repair or analysis, the latest version is installed automatically if needed.
      • The firmware cannot be updated by the user or the reseller but only by Dainese. All firmware versions issued by Dainese are anyway verified and functional, even if the firmware installed is not the latest version.
      WHAT IS THE AIR PRESSURE INSIDE THE AIRBAG ON DEPLOYMENT?
      • Dainese products are designed, tested and certified to guarantee that the whole item and any fabric/leather components along with the active and passive protection systems protect the wearer as best as humanly possible.
      • Dainese have carried out hundreds of safety tests on D-air® garments of every size and obtained TÜV Süd approval for the protection provided.
      • An airbag is only one part of a protection system: the air pressure inside the airbag on deployment varies from 1.25 to 1.74 bar from the Street version to the Racing version depending on the various configuration of the D-air® garments.
      HOW MUCH DOES THE D-AIR® SYSTEM WEIGH?
      • With the D-air® system, the weight of the suit varies from about 6.5 Kg for a size 44 up to 9 Kg for a size 60.
      WHAT IS THE “COLD TECHNOLOGY” GAS INJECTION SYSTEM?

      • "Cold technology" is a gas injection system that offers considerable benefits in terms of inflation speed, volumes attained and product safety in comparison with other previous technologies (Pyrotechnic Inflater / Hybrid Pyrotechnic / Heated Gas) and was therefore adopted by car manufacturers for airbags.

      • It is known as "cold technology" because the gas to be compressed and injected must be cooled to reach its liquid form: once the airbag is deployed, the gas is allowed to escape and expands to its gaseous state.

    • CAN I HAVE MY D-AIR® STREET SYSTEM REPLACED?
      • D-Air® Street garments (i.e. the Gilet or Gore-Tex® jacket) must be sent to Dainese by an authorised Dainese D-Air® Street dealer. N.B. The M-kit (electronic accident detection system fitted to bike) must be checked by an authorised Dainese installer as it is vital to ensure that system is working properly.
      HOW IS THE M-KIT FITTED TO MY BIKE?
      • Dainese will supply you with details of authorised Dainese D-air® Street installers who work with authorised stores. These installers have all the necessary expertise to work safely and in full compliance with legislative requirements when fitting D-air® * Street M-kits to your bike or scooter. These authorised installers have been selected and specially trained for such work and can therefore guarantee complete reliability of your D-air® Street system.
      HOW DOES D-AIR® STREET WORK?
      • The accidents that can happen on the road are very different from the falls we see at race tracks. D-air® Street was specifically designed to protect riders from the type of accidents that happen on the road. Its sophisticated deployment algorithm lets it more quickly detect the conditions of an accident and decide whether or not and how to intervene. If the situation does not justify deployment, the system will not activate so as to avoid wasting money on testing and replacing.
      • A typical road accident involves an impact between the front of a bike and a stationary or moving object, usually a car. The numerous crash tests performed by Dainese, demonstrated very clearly that an airbag must be deployed within 80 milliseconds of the first impact to provide protection. The only way to know if an airbag is fast enough is to establish the Total Time of Intervention.
      • Total Time of Intervention (TTI) = Deployment Time (DT) + Inflation Time (IT)
      • Knowing just one of these values (DT or IT) is of no use at all when trying to evaluate the effectiveness of the system being tested and may conceal technological shortcomings. In severe impacts, the D-air® Street system has a Total Time of Intervention of just 45 milliseconds that is well within the 80 milliseconds available.
      IS D-AIR® STREET HOMOLOGATED?
      • All the performance characteristics of D-air® Street have been verified and certified by TÜV SÜD, an organisation which has vast technological expertise in the protection and airbag technology system sector. D-air® Street successfully passed the tests set by EN 1621.2 and EN 1621.4. The system also underwent 800 individual tests including reliability tests in hostile weather conditions such as extreme heat or in the presence of strong electromagnetic interference to name but a few. It is very important to stress the results of the safety tests which confirm that even in the case of a deployment that takes place when there has not been an accident, the rider's ability to keep the bike under full control is not affected.
