Dual-Sport Bike Women's

Unlike street bikes and dirt bikes that are exclusively designed for road and off-road use, respectively, dual-sport bikes are made for riding on both pavement and soil, and come with a full complement of lights and equipment to make them legal for road use. By nature, dual-sport bikes are a compromise, giving up a certain amount of off-road capability to excel on the street, and vice-versa. The degree to which that compromise is made, and the bike’s dirt/street inclination, will vary according to model, with some bikes oriented toward the street and others little more than dirt bikes with lights. There are lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight dual-sport bikes in engine sizes from 200cc to 1300cc, with the lightweight bikes being the closest to dirt bikes, and the heavyweights usually known as adventure tourers. The supermoto bike is a variant of the dual-sport bike, based on the racing series of the same name that features riders on modified dirt bikes competing on a paved and dirt track.

The ancestors of today’s dual-sport bikes are the “enduro” bikes, also called dual-purpose bikes, of the late 1960s and 70s. Off-road riding had become very popular in the U.S. in the 60s, and while there were some purpose-built dirt bikes, they weren’t street legal and had to be trucked or trailered to off-road riding areas. Some manufacturers responded by building “scramblers”, that were supposedly for street and dirt riding, but these were nothing more than heavy street bikes with high-mounted exhaust pipes, and their weight made them ill-suited to dirt riding. In contrast, the lightweight enduros had single cylinder 2-cycle engines and were closer to real dirt bikes. They were competent out on the trails, yet had road-going essentials like lights and a mirror so you could ride home at the end of the day. Those early enduros evolved into the wide variety of dual-sport 4-cycle engine bikes that are currently available. Today, dual-sport bikes aren’t just for recreation and commuting, they’re also a necessity for mobility in the many parts of the world without paved roads.

Regular maintenance is the best way to prevent a breakdown on the road or out on the trail. Service frequency will vary according to use – if you ride in the dirt a lot some maintenance like air filter cleaning/reoiling or replacement may have to be done more often – but the best course of action is to follow the maintenance schedule recommendations in your owner’s manual. We have everything to keep your bike well maintained including premium motor oils, coolant, and brake fluid for topping off and changes; lubricants for cables and chains; air and oil filters; air filter cleaner and oil; spark plugs; and much more. Along with consumables we have the tools and equipment you’ll need for every maintenance session including tire pressure gauges, fluid drain pans, oil filter wrenches, spark plug sockets and gappers, spoke wrenches, cable lube adapters, floor wheel chocks to keep the bike upright, and stands and lifts to get the wheels off the ground.

We also have parts for major and minor repairs, including batteries, starters, charging system stators and rectifiers, water pumps and radiators, sprockets and drive chains, clutch kits, and more, as well as special tools for engines, transmission, clutches, and drivelines, and if you need some service guidance we have repair manuals with easy to follow, step-by-step maintenance, repair, and diagnostic procedures, and detailed illustrations and photographs. If you’re not satisfied with your bike’s performance, we have slip-on mufflers and performance air filters, carburetor jet kits and fuel injection programmers to increase horsepower; suspension upgrades including fork springs, fork valves, damping rods, and fork cartridges, shock springs, valves and complete shock absorber assemblies, as well as suspension oils in various weights for fork and shock tuning; and performance brake rotors and performance compound brake pads to improve stopping power.

A dual-sport’s versatility makes it the perfect bike when you can have only one machine, ready to be used for commuting, off-road exploring, and even adventure touring. Whether you’re out for a day of trail riding or a couple days on the road you’re going to want to take your gear and we have the luggage for the job. Our tank bags are ideal for everyday use and most are expandable to carry plenty of gear, with numerous compartments that make convenient places to stash a cell phone, map, tire repair kit, ear plugs, coins, etc. The more gear you need to take, the more options we offer for carrying it including racks, tail bags, and soft saddlebags. And while your dual-sport’s accommodations will never be as plush as a tourer, we have comfortable gel and air cushion seat pads that can make long trips more enjoyable, as well as other products that can increase your riding comfort level including hand guards, grips, levers, and pegs.

You’ll have no problems getting to your destination if you’re equipped with a motorcycle GPS. Our units are durable and waterproof, with easy to read, glove-friendly displays. Many have lifetime map updates and provide information on restaurants, gas stations, and points of interest, and with some you can customize the route to your destination to experience the most interesting roads and the best scenery. We also offer Bluetooth headsets that can be wirelessly connected to smartphones, iPods, MP3 players, and GPS units. These include microphone, speakers, and a control module that can be easily operated with gloves, so you can make calls, listen to music, and get spoken directions from the GPS. Some Bluetooth units can be paired with a number of other headsets, enabling communication with a passenger and other riders within a certain range.

Whether you’re out on the trail or on the road at night, you can boost your safety factor by improving your dual-sport’s lighting. We have powerful halogen headlight bulbs as well as LED headlight conversion kits and compact LED fog lights and auxiliary lights that can be can be tucked into recesses in the fairing or mounted on forks. In addition to providing brighter light that will improve your nighttime vision, LEDs last longer, draw less current, and are vibration resistant. Tires are not only crucial for riding safety, they’ll allow you to get the most out of your machine. No matter what mix of trail and street riding you do, we have the right tires for the riding surface, from 50/50 tires that will provide good performance on road and off, to serious off-road tires that are also DOT legal, to 70/30 and 80/20 tires with tread patterns that are pavement oriented but still able to provide traction for occasional off-roading. We also have high quality tubes for new tire fitments as well as rims, hubs, spoke kits, and nipple sets for building and repairing spoke wheels, and complete wheel assemblies. Many of the individual rims, hubs and nipples and the hubs on some complete wheels are available anodized in color.

Just like the rest of our parts & accessories, we have riding gear to suit where you choose to ride. We have lightweight dirt bike helmets that are set up for goggles as well as dual-sport helmets with pivoting face shields more appropriate for street riding; lightweight jerseys and water-resistant textile adventure touring jackets, many with CE rated armor for shoulder, elbow, and back protection, reflective panels for nighttime visibility, and numerous inside and outside pockets that are great for cell phones, keys, earplugs, and more; and motocross pants, water-resistant textile adventure touring pants, and riding jeans with removable knee armor, knee and seat areas reinforced with Kevlar, and stretch panels for greater comfort in the riding position. We also offer dirt bike/motocross boots and street-oriented boots, and protective gloves for warm and cold weather riding. Here you’ll also find a full complement of body armor specifically designed for the dirt including ballistic jerseys that can be worn under a jersey or by themselves and include full torso and elbow protection, spine protection and built-in kidney belt, as well as neck braces, chest protectors, knee braces, and more.
