The engine’s crankshaft of your Harley Davidson is connected to the input shaft of the transmission through a special coupling device. It uses friction to make both shafts rotate as one when springs press a clutch pack together. It allows the rider to engage and disengage the driveling from the engine when shifting gears, stopping, or starting. When the clutch lever is pulled, the springs are compressed and friction and steel plates in the pack start rotating independently. The clutch pack consists of a series of plates with friction material on both sides and plane steel drive plates.
One type of plates is splined to the basket shell connected with the crankshaft, and another one to the inner hub connected with the input shaft of the transmission. The lever is connected with the spring loaded pressure plate that presses the pack together via the cable or hydraulic line. Most of the time, clutch problems are caused by friction plates wear and tear or clutch line malfunctions. You can find all of the needed replacement parts on the digital shelves of our online store.
