Highway bars, or crash bars, are great add-ons to any Indian motorcycle that serve cosmetic and protection purposes. If you happen to lay your heavy bike down at cruising speeds, they will reduce the impact by keeping its weight off your leg. They can also protect the bike itself by minimizing the damage done to it if it falls on its side.
