Italika Motorcycle Women's
When you hear the name Italika Motorcycles, you might think it's an Italian company. In fact, it's a leading Mexican manufacturer of motorcycles founded in 2005. This company is rather successful – by 2011, they sold one million bikes; a two-millionth motorcycle was purchased in 2014. Originally, Italika designed and assembled motorcycles jointly with Hyosung, the South-Korean company, and most parts were sourced from Korea and China. A beneficial combination of a comparatively low price and decent quality allowed Italika to take 63 percent of the Mexican market share – a rather impressive result, taking into account a rather short time for such an achievement. The newer models feature Mexican origin and design and are assembled at a large factory in Toluca, which has a production capacity of 300,000 units per year approximately.
These days, Italika produces several model lines covering most requirements on the domestic market. The company offers road and dirt bikes, choppers, bikes for motocross, scooters, and all-terrain vehicles. But still, despite their great success in Mexico, Italika is not that wide-spread in the United States. The main reason is, their engine displacements typically don't exceed 250cc, which means lack of power and torque. Such a volume is definitely not enough for many American riders. Truth be told, there is a couple of sport models – the VORT-X 650 with its liquid-cooled one-cylinder DOHC 650cc motor, and a less powerful VORT-X 300. But even the cruiser, the TC250 model, is equipped with a one-cylinder four-stroke 250cc engine. However, it's very lightweight – 327 pounds is really not much for its class.
In fact, when it comes to comparatively short travels, getting to work, or riding around the local area, Italika is a nice and inexpensive choice. Featuring good handling and build quality, many bikes by Italika can be perfect entry-level motorcycles for beginners. Anyway, whatever bike you own, it's wise to have the proper riding gear and body protection. It is especially important for those who are just learning to ride a bike or even a scooter.
