The farther off the road you want to ride, the more crucial it is to make sure your lights are reliable and powerful enough. Riding over challenging terrain where there is no illumination from street lamps and other vehicles’ lights at night can be very dangerous if you cannot properly see the trail or road ahead. Quality off-road motorcycle lights securely installed on your bike can make a world of difference. Aside from being brighter than their stock counterparts, they are also more durable to withstand the rigors of off-roading.
Although off-road lights are available in a myriad of shapes, sizes, and designs, virtually all of them come with scratch-resistant lenses. It matters as there are lots of bushes, branches, etc., that can leave scratches on their lenses thus decreasing visibility. Avid off-roaders will like the models with special protective grills that aim to protect the lights from stones. However, when choosing the right products for your needs, you should consider many other things such as light type, color, and beam pattern. First things first, the main three choices for bulbs are halogen, HID, and LED. The choice primarily depends on the personal preferences of a rider.
When choosing a beam pattern, consider the speeds that your motorcycle rides off-road. If you ride your bike at high speeds, you will be better off with spotlights that provide long-distance illumination. Floodlights are a solid choice for those who mostly ride on mountain trails with lots of stones and roots and other areas where long-distance illumination is less important than the ability to clearly see the surroundings. There are also other beam choices including driving, scene, and fog. When it comes to light color, you are offered a variety of choices including blue, green, red, and white. Some lights are RGB, which means you can change their color any time you want.
