COMPLETELY REDESIGNED SHELL AND SHIELD SYSTEM
The RAM-X features the newly developed VAS-Z shield system, with a lower pivot point that allows the shell to be smoother in the temple area improving the helmet’s ability to slide more smoothly should it contact the ground or obstacles, contributing to gains in protection. This lower pivot position is possible due to the dual-pivot assembly, creating a “Variable Axis System” for which the system was named, allowing the shield to function where a single pivot could not.
IMPROVED GLANCE OFF ABILITY
The VAS pivot cover is now smaller and lower than the previous design, yielding an average of 24mm more area above the cover. The shell is now smoother along the Snell test line in the temple area, thus increasing the helmet’s ability to glance off objects during an impact.
Compared with the shell of the Corsair-V, the smooth area around the temple is increased by an average of 24mm on the new VAS model. Having a rounder, smoother, stronger shell to improve glance off ability.
HIGH-TECH, ONE-PIECE, MULTI-DENSITY LINER INSIDE.
A fundamental feature has always been the One-Piece, Multi-Density Liner. Molding all of the EPS densities into a one-piece EPS liner allows the various densities to work together during an impact. This allows manufacture to make a thinner and softer EPS liner for a smaller overall helmet.
VENTILATION
Utilizing the same diffusers as the flagship Corsair-X model, with a revised stationary aero stabilizer wing to improve helmet stability and further reduce rider fatigue.
LIGHTER
Weight reduction was achieved by decades of continual strengthening of the shell and a newly developed Z-compound resin combining multiple resins into one.
PRO SHADE SYSTEM
Up, down or in the middle the new shield system adapts to many light conditions without sacrificing helmet impact absorption performance. The Pro Shade’s unique design lets air pass through even at high speed.
GLASSES COMPATIBLE
Removable foam in the top of the earcup allows the arms of glasses to easily slide into the helmet. The earcups are easy to remove from the helmet and have removable covers for easy washing and access to this removable part.
VAS-Z PINLOCK LENS
The Ram-X comes with the VAS-Z shield that accepts the new VAS-Z Pinlock lens. The new Pinlock-120 lens comes with the helmet in the box and ready to install. The Pinlock-120 is Pinlock's fog resistant lens meant for the most extreme weather conditions.
It is a fact: visors have been fogging up as long as we have been riding motorbikes. People have tried everything in all those years from soap suds to potatoes and even spit, but nothing provided a solution to have a fully fog free shield under the different conditions that a motorbike rider needs to cope with. Until Derek Arnold, an importer of motorbike helmets, had a flash of inspiration. His idea consisted of applying the double shield principle. An insert made of moisture-absorbing material was secured to the shield with pins, which ensured that an ‘air-tight chamber’ was created. In combination with the very good moisture-absorbing prosperities of the material that was used, this “Pinlock” system guaranteed that a fogged up shield was definitely something of the past. In addition to the high-quality material of the insert, the pins also ensured consumer convenience. The Pinlock pins can be adjusted and, therefore, ensure that the insert can be installed and replaced easily.
It is not difficult to imagine that Pinlock® went through an enormous growth period during the years that followed and that it brought about a true revolution in the motorbike market. Herman de Boer was also appointed as Managing Director of Pinlock Systems B.V. as well as Derek Arnold to ensure that this boom could be properly managed and to ensure that Pinlock could develop further as a company. This professionalisation was partly responsible for Pinlock Systems B.V. setting up a special division to be able to also serve the police and military markets.
Pinlock’s mission is transparent and clear: to continue to innovate with new materials and ideas. On the one hand, this will take place by setting up a line of high-quality products under its own label. On the other hand, by producing customized solutions for Pinlock’s partners who are highly valued.
