By keeping your bike clean and polished at all times, you not only make it look great but also protect its painted, chrome-plated, leather, rubber, and plastic surfaces from harmful UV rays and the elements. Also, while you thoroughly clean and polish all of the parts of your motorcycle, you can carefully inspect them for any signs of wear, damage, and leaks and take appropriate measures to fix the problem and retain the high resale value of your bike. It is not recommended to use pressure washers and household cleaning products that are not specifically designed for use on vehicles to avoid damages to the parts of your motorcycle.
Wait until your bike cools off after use before starting to wash it. Rinse the machine with a hose or use two buckets: one with clean water, and the other with a cleaning agent in it. Use a soft sponge or microfiber mitt to prevent dragging fine dirt particles across your paintwork. By rinsing your sponge or mitt in fresh water, you leave most of the dirt in that bucket without transferring it into the reservoir with a cleaning product. If there are bug splashes on your windshield or some road grime on your fenders and fairings, use dedicated products to clean them off quickly and easily.
Before you start applying polish and wax products, you need to make sure that all of the surfaces of your motorcycle are perfectly clean and completely dry. If your bike is not dirty enough for you to spray it with a hose, you can clean it without water by using a quick detailer and microfiber towel. To clean, polish, and help protect aluminum and chrome parts of your motorcycle, use a special formula for metal surfaces. By applying it gently with a soft fabric rag or towel, you can easily remove oxidation and quickly give a metal surface a mirror-like finish.
Never do polishing and waxing part of the job under direct sunlight. Your products will dry off too quickly under the hot sun leaving smudges on painted surfaces. To make painted parts and panels of your bike smoother, polish them with the use of a special spray. Rotation polishing tools can’t help you much due to the uneven surface of motorcycle bodywork. It is much easier to do it by hand. Polishing gives an extra depth to your paint and makes your bike look like a brand new one. After that, you need to add an extra layer of protection.
By waxing the polished parts of your motorcycle, you seal them and protect from water, dust, and harmful UV rays. Put a small amount of waxing product on a clean microfiber towel and apply it to the surface with a circular motion creating a thin coating. Let it dry out a little until the part becomes hazy. Then rub each panel with a clean towel applying light pressure buffing up the surface and achieving a glossy finish. On the digital shelves of our online store, we showcase a huge assortment of motorcycle polish and wax products by some of the most well-known brands, such as Cycle Care, Motorex, Silkolene, IPONE, Bike Brite, and many others.
