Motorcycle Projector Headlights

Projector Headlights

A headlight is one of the main safety features your bike has. It not only illuminates the road ahead, but also makes your motorcycle more visible to other road users. The brighter and more powerful your headlight is, the farther you can see at night and in inclement weather conditions and, therefore, the safer you feel when riding. That’s why it is always a good idea to upgrade your factory headlight, or headlights if you have several ones. One of the best ways to do this is to install projector headlights, which are usually more efficient than most factory headlights.

Not so long ago projector headlights were found only in luxury vehicles and sports cars. Today just about every car or bike owner can upgrade their reflector headlights to high-performance projector lights. There is a variety of aftermarket options for virtually any application, no matter whether it is a scooter or high-performance sports bike. The majority of modern projector headlights are either plug and play or require some minor wiring, so in many cases you will be able to install them yourself in a garage without any special tools needed. Projector headlights do exactly what their name says. Contrary to reflector headlights that simply reflect the light out on the road, they project it, creating a longer, more focused beam that provides increased brightness. All this is achieved thanks to the special design of projector headlights, which consists of four main elements, including a reflector, lens, light source and cutoff shield. The elliptical reflector concentrates light and directs it in a specific direction, while a cutoff shield partially blocks the light for a more focused beam.

Motorcycle projector headlights come in an array of different styles and designs, which makes them perfect for custom projects and upgrades. You may find round, rectangular, oval, and double projector headlights, as well as lights with halo rings and built-in daytime running lights. They are also available with clear and smoke lenses and plenty of stylish chrome accents to address the needs of the most demanding customer. The wide variety of colors, styles and designs allows you to customize the front end of your bike the way you like, while taking your safety to a new level.

When first projector headlights appeared on the market, they utilized HID bulbs, which consumed much more power than halogen bulbs, and often required the upgrade of the bike’s electrical system. However, today you may find plenty of energy-efficient yet ultra-bright LED projector headlights. Thanks to the use of modern LED technology, such projector lights provide an impressive light output, while consuming significantly less power than its halogen counterparts. In addition, they last much longer than traditional lights, which makes them the perfect investment that is worth every penny.
