Kymco is a brand of the Taiwanese company Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd founded in 1963. Originally, they made moto parts for Honda, but in 1992, the company started manufacturing scooters under their own brand. And they turned to be rather successful: in the 2000s, Kymco became the largest scooter manufacturer in Taiwan. These days, the company belongs to the main international market players in this area and produces not only scooters, but also utility terrain vehicles (UTV) and motorcycles. Truth be told, there are not so many bikes in Kymco's assortment, but such models as the KR Sport 125, cruiser Zing 125, Venox 250, and more recent motorcycles – the K-Pipe 125 and Spade 150 can still be seen on the road. These bikes are quite reliable, nice to ride, and feature decent quality, but given relatively small engine volumes, many riders consider them as leaner bikes (arguably, except for the Venox 250). Having gained some experience with these machines, riders often want something faster and more powerful.

When it comes to the Venox appeared in the mid-2000s, it can be a real blast to own even for more experienced riders. This motorcycle is powered by a 250cc V-twin mated to a 5-speed gearbox and has a stylish appearance with lots of chrome. In the meantime, scooters of the later model years such as the Downtown 300i perfectly fill the gap between 50cc or 125cc scooters and entry-level motorcycles. Its 300cc engine rated at 29.5 hp is rather powerful for a usual scooter, so the Downtown can run at speed of around 90 mph or so – that could be enough even for highways. If it's still insufficient, there is a maxi-scooter – the impressive KYMCO XCiting 400i. Another model, the Downtown 200i develops just 20 hp, but still, its four-stroke liquid-cooled OHV engine is very efficient. Besides that, Kymco offers lots of smaller scooters including the Agility 50 and 125, Compagno 110, Like 150 and 200, etc., and most owners like them.
