You need to pass legally-required smog check before taking your bike for registration and then riding on public streets and highways. Your motorcycle came from the factory with emission control equipment in the form of the exhaust catalytic converter, which exists to clear the exhaust gas from harmful pollutants. These converters come with special cores produced from out of precious metals designed to split the pollutant gasses, lowering the hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, and toxic waste amounts present in the gas.
The redox reaction that occurs when the temps get high triggers the catalytic conversion itself. Stock converters are produced to handle plenty of exhaust gas by volume, but they restrict the flow of gases by design. If you use your sport bike on the track only, you have an option to upgrade to a high-flow catalytic converter designed to reduce restriction and increase the exhaust flow. As a result, you can get more horsepower and torque to leave your competitors behind. Such products can also lower the pressure in the pipes, so that more fresh air and gas could be drawn into the combustion chambers.
