The fuel delivery system of your Harley Davidson consists of a gas tank, pump, petcock, filter, carburetor or fuel injection system, and other components. To ensure sufficient supply of gas to your fuel-hungry motor, all these parts must perform their functions as intended by the manufacturer. A petcock allows the flow of the fuel only when the engine is running thanks to a valve operated by the crankshaft vacuum. Filters remove all contaminants from the gasoline to prevent clogging of fine passages and jets in a carburetor or injectors. A sensor, installed inside the tank provides the information about the level of remaining fuel.
An electric pump pressurizes the system so that the sufficient amount of gasoline could be injected into the engine equipped with an electronic fuel management system. In case some of these components in your bike starts to show signs of malfunction, the operation of the whole system will be disrupted resulting in unstable and inefficient operation of the motor.
