For any riding style, there is a proper Honda motorcycle. Honda probably offers more models over a wider selection of options than any other motorcycle manufacturer. There are sightly cruisers like the Honda Shadow, adventure tourers like the Africa Twin, CBR sportbikes, CRF motocrossers, and of course, the king of all motorcycles, the Honda Gold Wing. The brand's motorcycle history traces back to 1947, when Soichiro Honda built his first A-Type motorized bicycle. It isn't considered to be a full-fledged motorcycle though, as it was only the next year that Honda Motors was officially established. So, the first motorcycle to officially bear the Honda name was the Dream D-type that appeared back in 1949.It was powered by a 98cc single-cylinder engine developing around 3 hp. Already in 1952, Honda began exporting its motorcycles, with the first bike having reached the North American soil in 1954 (the Honda Juno). The Juno K-Type was ahead of its time, equipped with a self-starter and a windshield. It was followed by the Supercub C100, which gained massive popularity thanks to its efficiency and an affordable price. It featured an innovative 50cc engine, centrifugal clutch, and low-floor backbone.

1954 marked Honda's foray into the big world of motorsports. It was the year when Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) was formed, which was also responsible for producing several racing-only motorcycles. By 1959, Honda built five bikes to participate in the prestigious Isle of Man TT, the world's largest motorcycle race. 1961 brought the first victory – riding a Honda RC143 125 twin, Mike Hailwood won the Grand Prix in the Lightweight TT. Many wins in Grand Prix races followed, and the major one came in 1983, when Freddie Spencer won the 500cc Grand Prix World Championship and, by the way, became the youngest racer to do so. Ever since, Honda has been the dominant make in Grand Prix, boasting numerous victories.

Honda's success in Grand Prix championships had a direct say on the hugely popular CBR lineup. In 1992, its first representative was introduced, the CB900RR (Fireblade). With a dry weight of roughly 400 lb and a compact size typical for 600cc bikes, this super sport bike featured a powerful four-cylinder, which translated into superior handling and control. Currently, the Honda CBR600RR and CBR1000RR are the world's best-selling sportbikes. Honda offers a lineup of off-road bikes for just about any dirt application, highlighted by CRF motocross machines, long-time favorites among MX and SX racers. And for those who rarely ride off pavement, there is a line of cruisers that includes the VTX, Shadow, and Rebel. Dominating the touring direction is the Gold Wing, which has been one of the top-selling tourers since its introduction in 1974.

Honda motorcycles are known for innovative engineering. Honda was the first to introduce electronically-controlled ABS, motorcycle dual-clutch transmission, and motorcycle air bag system, just to name a few breakthrough things. Lately, Honda introduced its revolutionary Moto Riding Assist technology that allows the bike to move without the rider's control. The company's innovations and high reliability score keep Honda at its competitive edge on the motorcycle market.
