The motorcycle’s swingarm fulfills a tremendously important job: it holds the rear wheel attached to a bike. Although this part may seem rather simple, it is, in fact, much more complex and high-tech than it looks. This complexity comes from immense forces acting on the rear wheel of a motorcycle, which need to be counteracted. Furthermore, a swingarm also forms a core part of the rear suspension setup; therefore, it has to absorb the shocks coming from the road irregularities and support the overall weight of a bike. Finally, various kinds of maneuvers along with acceleration and cornering put additional stress on a swingarm.
