Sputhe is a reputable American company whose name has been known in the motorcycle world since the early 1970s. It was originally engaged in designing and manufacturing steel molds, patterns, and dies for medical, food processing, and aerospace industries. But in 1973, the company started using its strong engineering base and production facilities for developing and manufacturing advanced technical solutions for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Many achievements belong to Alan Sputhe, the company's founder and talented engineer who designed dual-carburetor aluminum heads, cast aluminum big bore cylinders, and many other parts.
Today, Sputhe manufactures a variety of aftermarket motorcycle parts meant to improve the bike's performance. Deep knowledge and cutting-edge American made CNC machinery allow the company to analyze the efficiency of some stock components and develop their improved alternatives, or even offer new solutions. In particular, Sputhe cylinders for some H-D and Buell models are built from 383 aluminum alloy, with a sleeve made out of high-tensile chrome-moly steel called Lascomite, which makes the cylinders stronger than stock. As for Sputhe pistons, they are made out of tempered and stabilized nickel-aluminum forgings and feature an improved skirt configuration developed with the help of computer thermal expansion modeling.
Sputhe stabilizer kits provide the lateral positioning of the drivetrain for the famous Dyna line of H-D motorcycles, produced since 1991. Besides, the brand is known for many improved transmission parts, complete transmissions, and transmission cases. For instance, there is the Sputhe gearbox case allowing for adapting a 5-speed H-D Evo transmission to the older 4-speed frames sold in the 1970s.
