Trilobite Motorcycle Clothing

No one would deny the importance of leg protection when riding a motorcycle. Armored pants are the safest option but they are generally not comfortable for short trips and walking around. On the other end of the spectrum, there are regular jeans that are no doubt better than no protection at all but they are simply not designed to hold up to sliding across the asphalt. The answer? A pair of dedicated riding jeans that combine a casual look, comfort, and extra protection. Trilobite jeans are handcrafted with that in mind.

Trilobite has been manufacturing motorcycle apparel since 2012. Named after armored arthropods from the Paleozoic era, the company offers motorcycle gear constructed to shield the rider while providing all-day comfort. Its products are designed and made in the Czech Republic. Riding jeans are the centerpiece of the brand’s collection, however, Trilobite also makes motorcycle gloves, jackets, and shirts. The basis of its apparel is a selection of high-performance fabrics that ensure far better protection than regular denim. The stitching is well-done and carefully trimmed, and depending on the model line, the jeans may have some extra features like stretch panels for added comfort, Kevlar® lining for improved abrasion resistance, and knee and hip armor for impact protection.

The Dyneema® denim used in many of the Trilobite motorcycle jeans models is a combination of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) interwoven with cotton. The resulting material is ultra-strong and highly abrasion- and cut-resistant – the properties making it suitable for use in bulletproof vests and cut-resistant gloves, just to name a few applications. The Go-Up and Parado lines of jeans include 14% of this material to provide protection while keeping the price down, while Ton-Up jeans feature a 52-percent Dyneema® composition to make them even more abrasion-resistant. The Cordura® denim fabric is tougher than regular denim and resists tear and abrasion better, while retaining a classic urban look. The Coolmax® fibers added to this fabric provide better breathability, letting air in and moisture out. The company’s top-of-the-line material is a 4-layer Trilobitex® that incorporates denim, aramid fibers, nanomembrane, and mesh to create a waterproof yet breathable fabric with excellent protective properties.
