It doesn’t matter what motorcycle model you ride, you certainly want to get the most out of it in terms of performance. Unless it is an electric bike, it’s motivated by an internal combustion engine that requires the proper amount of air-fuel mixture for effective operation. Obviously, the easiest way to get more horsepower out of an engine is to give it more air for a better combustion process. To reach the goal, motorcycle makers started building machines with RAM air intake. Today, many models are equipped with it.
That allows for getting more power output from an engine without adding extra weight to the bike. This is the reason why it’s a better solution for the motorcycle world than the installation of a supercharger or turbocharger along with an intercooler. Typically, motorcycle air ducts are located in the front of a bike as that is where most air impact occurs. However, they can also be located on its sides. They are connected with an air cleaner via tubes. That allows for sucking the oncoming airflow created by the forward motion of a motorcycle thus improving the static pressure in the airbox. As a result, the engine gets more air for greater power gains.
