Your Harley Davidson is equipped with a legendary V-twin that ensures its superior riding performance and dynamics, and for the engine to keep running properly, there should be a sufficient amount and flow of motor oil lubricating and cooling the engine. The lubricating system consists of several components. Pans are stamped steel or aluminum parts that store motor oil. They are bolted to the crankcase and serve as a container which gathers lubricant as it is running down from the crankcase. Due to its location, the pan can get seriously damaged if you hit a rock or some other road debris.

The plug is machined and tapped from out of alloys which expand under higher temperatures, in order to offer complete sealing of the draining orifice. Some of the aforementioned parts come complete with magnets in them, which collect any and all metallic dust, which can end up in the lubricating fluid. Dipsticks are used for measuring the fluid levels, having a certain number of notches in them, which show the correct levels.
