LIQUI MOLY was founded in 1957 in Ulm, Germany, by Hans Henle after acquiring the patent rights for a liquid formulation of molybdenum disulfide. The company built its reputation on its very first product, a specialized wear-reducing engine additive dubbed Kfz 1, which remains in production today as Oil Additive. Over decades of in-house research, the business grew from that single tin into a global lubricant specialist. Now operating as an independent company within the Würth Group, LIQUI MOLY continues to manufacture its lubricants and chemical treatments in Germany, maintaining tight quality control across every formulation.
The brand develops its dedicated Motorbike product line for street riders, track enthusiasts, and garage mechanics who prefer shop-grade fluids for routine service. Its catalog covers synthetic and mineral 4-stroke engine oils, injector and pre-mix 2-stroke oils, and specialized motorcycle gear oils engineered for both wet clutches and shaft-drive assemblies. Beyond the crankcase, the brand manufactures synthetic fork oils, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluids, and foam air filter oils. Everyday maintenance is supported by garage essentials like chain cleaners and chain lubes, along with radiator coolants, octane boosters, and targeted fuel system cleaners.
LIQUI MOLY is particularly respected for its high thermal stability and strict adherence to JASO MA2 standards, demonstrated by its multi-year tenure as the exclusive lubricant supplier to Moto2 and Moto3. The product line delivers precise fitment for European adventure and sport machines from BMW, KTM, and Ducati, as well as Japanese street bikes and cruisers from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. Dirt bike, ATV, and UTV owners also rely on these heavy-duty formulations to withstand extreme dust and mud. Riders choose LIQUI MOLY when they want dependable German engineering and track-tested formulas that safeguard their powertrain in demanding conditions.
