Your favorite jeans or pants may be really comfortable and look stylish, however, they will not protect your legs in the event of a crash, especially if it happens on the track. To keep the bottom part of your body safe and sound, you must wear racing pants. They are specially designed to stand high-speed impacts and slides, protecting you from injuries and other hazards. Racing pants are made from abrasion-resistant materials and are usually reinforced with armor in the hips and knees to prevent serious injuries in case of a fall or collision.
Racing pants are all about perfect fit. Specially designed for the track, they need to fit snugly for several reasons. First of all, snug fit guarantees that the pants will not slide on your body while riding, making your riding more comfortable. This will also keep your legs in a tuck position both on the bike and in the event of a crash. In addition, properly fitting racing pants will improve your aerodynamics which is crucial when you are on the track. For this reason, most racing pants do not have any pockets.
Racing is synonymous with high speed and danger. The risk of injuries on the track is always higher than when riding around the city or running errands. The higher the risk, the greater the level of protection is required. To ensure protection you can rely on, riding pants are manufactured from the most durable materials, including leather and several types of fabrics. While leather is the most popular material used for racing pants thanks to its unmatched abrasion resistance and strength, you may also find racing pants made of ballistic nylon and other blends of synthetic materials.
Durability and proper fit are crucial for racing pants. However, comfort is no less important. Since most racing pants are made of leather or combinations of leather and other materials, proper ventilation is essential for a comfortable riding experience. Many racing pants come with special vents which allow for optimal ventilation without sacrificing protection. Plus, almost all racing pants feature moisture-absorbing lining, which prevents collecting sweat under the pants and ensures a comfortable ride in hot weather conditions.
In nine out of ten cases, racing pants are used in tandem with a racing jacket to ensure maximum body protection in case of a crash. In order to better fit a racing jacket, many racing pants come with a special zipper at the top which allows the rider to attach them to his or her motorcycle jacket. This keeps the pants and jacket from sliding up and down, which adds to your safety and comfort. Many racing pants also feature waist adjustments, which allows the rider to create even a more custom fit.
