The first scooters were introduced in the 1920s but their sales rocketed only after World War II. The pump draws motor oil from the oil pan and makes it circulate in the engine to ensure smooth function. Once the motor is shut down, almost all oil is collected in the pan. The malfunctioning pump causes a lack of lubrication, overheating, and, almost inevitably, serious damage to the engine.
