Universal Clamp-On Pod Filter Kit (PK-82) by UNI Filter®. Deluxe Urethane End Cap. Uni Pod Filter Kits feature a black urethane end cap, black foam element, black urethane snout and a stainless steel clamp. (Jetting changes may be required to fully realize the advantages of these filters). Completely washable, constructed of a black foam element with deluxe urethane end cap and rubber base for perfect fit. Looks like new after every cleaning.

Why foam is a better air filtration medium than paper or gauze.
The principle of how foam air filters work is simple: "Open Cell" Polyurethane Foam is wetted with specially developed filter oil. The "sticky" filter oil is suspended in the path of the dirty air on the strands of the web-like cell structure of the foam. This makes it impossible for dirt to pass through the depth of the filter without sticking to the strands. As the outer strands become loaded with dirt particles, the wetted strands down stream start trapping dirt, allowing the entire thickness to be utilized. This prevents surface loading or air restriction for 80% of the service life of the air filter element. When the filter is sufficiently dirty, it can be easily washed, re-oiled, and re-used.

Foam Or Paper?
First thing first, love American. Second thing second, the reason I took this one is because of its advantages against paper filters. You do not need to throw it away when it's dirty. You can actually wash it, clean it, and use it. Such thing is just impossible with paper filters. Plus, paper can be ripped and then small parts will pass through the gaps, while this won't happen with the foam ones. They don't rip.
