If your motorcycle doesn't perform properly, the problem can be traced to the air intake system. In particular, the throttle body may be to blame, as this crucial assembly is responsible for letting the needed amount of air into the engine. Older motorcycles have a relatively simple construction with a steel cable making the choke open once the rider turns the throttle, while more modern bikes feature a throttle-by-wire system in which a computer controls the choke, but over time, any of these mechanisms may need some attention and repair.

As it is with pretty much any vehicle, a throttle body in a motorcycle gradually gets contaminated with soot, carbon deposits, oil, and dirt. Also, there can be various issues caused by a faulty throttle position sensor (TPS) found there, cracked rubber hoses and seals, deformed springs, increased gaps and play because of metal fretting, and so on. The result is an affected air-fuel mixture due to air leaks and/or improper data coming from the sensor. You may experience rough idle, “hanging” revs, troubles with starting the motor, unstable operation in various modes, higher fuel consumption, and power decrease.

Quite often, careful cleaning of the throttle using special stuff is enough to make the motor run well, but if its components are seriously worn out or broken, their replacement is a better solution. A new throttle body installed in your motorcycle can save you from the endless search for hidden problems in this area. On our digital shelves, you can find a large assortment of motorcycle throttle bodies and their components crafted by reputable aftermarket companies. Made with quality in mind, many of these parts can help you improve engine operation or prepare the motor for racing competitions thanks to stronger materials and enhanced characteristics.
