Motorcycle Crankshafts & Components

The crankshaft is the mechanical part of your motorcycle engine that is responsible for its proper operation. The purpose of the crankshaft is to convert the linear movements of pistons into rotational motion, which is then transferred to the wheels. The pistons are attached to the crankshaft with the help of offset shafts. When the pistons move up and down, they push the offset shaft, which in turn leads to crankshaft rotation. One end of the crankshaft is attached to the camshaft by means of a belt or chain, while the other end is connected to the flywheel, which reduces the pulsation characteristic of the four-stroke cycle and thus regulates the power coming out of the engine.

The crankshaft spins at a very high speed. To rotate freely yet to be properly secured in the engine block and reduce vibration, it comes with a bearing on each end. Bearings allow the crankshaft to rotate at high revs while staying firmly attached. Crankshaft bearings also help reduce friction between the rotating crankshaft and stationary engine block and thus sustain a lot of damage. Plus, they are mainly made from copper and lead compounds which are more fragile than the materials used to manufacture the engine block and the crankshaft, so the bearings may wear out prematurely and need an urgent replacement.

You can upgrade your bike’s exhaust, fuel or air intake system but to squeeze maximum performance out of your iron horse, you should retrofit its engine. One of the most effective ways to do that is to install a high-performance crankshaft. Such crankshafts are made from lighter yet no less durable materials and demand less power to spin. Designed with precise engineering using advanced technologies and sophisticated equipment, they deliver superior operation and feature impeccable quality. Such crankshafts along with all necessary parts and components for their proper installation, including seal kits, bearings, crankshaft pins, and many more, are available on our website.
