Adventure/Touring Bike Crankshafts & Components

The crankshaft in your adventure or touring bike’s engine takes the energy of the moving pistons and transforms it into what can rotate the wheels – torque. Two major performance characteristics that tell you how powerful the engine is – maximum torque and maximum power – are measured at the end of this very component. Unlike the monolithic cranks used in multi-cylinder car motors, most motorcycles having just one or two cylinders use a so-called assembled crankshaft fabricated from several components. Such a crank is much shorter and uses monolithic connecting rods.

Affixed with a couple of heavy-duty engine bearings, a crankshaft is enclosed in what is typically referred to as a crankcase. Containing oil, the crankcase is sealed to make sure that this vital fluid doesn’t go anywhere. The seals and bearings are those parts which typically require replacements way sooner than a flywheel, connecting rods, or the crank itself. And since the jobs they do are quite crucial for your engine's service life, you should accept no compromise with their quality. Make sure you don’t by making purchases in our online store.
